The winter months in particular bring great challenges. The project managers are doing everything they can to open the new Grindelwald-Männlichen gondola cableway on time on 13 December 2019.

To achieve this goal, Jungfrau Railways and GGM are investing in winter construction measures. After a break during the holidays, the construction work on the Eiger Glacier and in Grindelwald Grund will be resumed on 7 January 2019.

Winter sports & additional parking
Winter sports are not affected by the construction site. Since 22 December 2018, continuous winter sports operations are available at all ski areas in Grindelwald and Wengen. Both in the Kleine Scheidegg and the Grindelwald-First area, the first valley runs were opened before the holidays.

Thanks to the creation of the replacement parking spaces on the south bank of the Lütschine and east of the Werkhof, 150 more parking spaces will be available this winter than in previous winter sports seasons. Guests can thus be offered comfort during the construction phase.
