Since the opening of the V-Cableway on 5 December 2020, Eigergletscher station has become the new hub for guest flows to the Jungfraujoch. On the evening of Friday 29 November 2024, the The Wall bar was inaugurated with a showcase by DJ Antoine. “The overall experience of the Eigergletscher is being given an attractive upgrade with The Wall and live images of the Eiger North Face”, explains Urs Kessler, Director of Jungfrau Railways. The fact that in DJ Antoine, a top DJ was hired for the exclusive inauguration goes back to the SnowpenAir in 2019, where DJ Antoine performed.
Rock, gin and sun terrace
From Saturday, 30 November 2024, guests can discover the new bar experience on the Eigergletscher for themselves. During the remodelling of the previous Schreinerbar, the original stone walls were brought out. What has remained is the large outdoor sun terrace right next to the ski slopes and the summit station of the Eiger North Face chairlift. Inside the show distillery, you can take a look at the production of “The Wall” gin from the Rugen Distillery, part of the local Rugenbräu AG.
A special feature of every gin from the Rugen Distillery is that it is allowed to run over a rock crystal to reach perfection. This tradition was adapted to the special surroundings for the new show distillery. “The gin flows over a stone that originates from the Eiger”, explains Remo Kobluk, Managing Director of Rugenbräu AG. “The rocks that form the Eiger originate from the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. The distillate is thus refined with a special stone at the end of the distillation process.”
Eigergletscher guest experience
Due to the changeover and wait times at Eigergletscher station, guests tend to spend a little longer in the area around the station. When creating an attractive interchange, the focus is on guiding visitors and improving the quality of their stay. In addition to the new bar, the bistro at Eigergletscher station and the restaurant with viewing terrace, Jungfrau Railways are planning an interactive world of experience in a new building with the “Vertical Experience”, which will bring guests closer to the myth of the Eiger North Face with its alpinist dramas and successes.
